Who We Are
Alan Alder, IMC Artistic
Director
Alan Alder has served
as Director of Choral Activities at Anderson High School in Anderson, IN since
2001. In serving Anderson High School, Mr. Alder conducts the Madrigal Singers,
Concert Choir, The AHS Festival Chorus, A-Town Sound, The Singers Unlimited and
Class Act. Mr. Alder is a past member of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir and
has served as the Assistant Conductor of Cantabile!, Indianapolis's newest
professional chorus.
Before arriving at
Anderson High School, Alder worked for Ball State University, where he was the
Assistant Director of the Ball State University Singers, "Indiana's Official
Goodwill Ambassadors," as well as a graduate assistant in Choral Activities.
While serving Ball State University, he conducted the Statesmen, the Concert
Choir and the Chamber Choir. Alan Alder has prepared choruses for performances
of Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, Haydn's Creation, Mahler's Symphony No. 2, and
the Verdi Requiem.
Mr. Alder holds a BME
from Indiana State University in Instrumental and Choral Education as well as
an MM in Choral Conducting from Ball State University. While attending ISU he
served for three years as the field commander for the Marching Sycamores, "The
Pride of Indiana."
In addition to
educational pursuits, he served the Terre Haute Community in several
professional and community venues such as the Rose Hulman Institute of
Technology, "Stage Works," the Terre Haute Community Theater, and the
Seelyville United Methodist Church. Mr. Alder is regarded as one of the most
dynamic young educator's in the Mid-West, and is a sought after clinician and
guest conductor throughout the state. He is also known as a talented arranger
for many different choirs and bands throughout the nation. Each summer, he
serves as the principal accompanist for the nationally known Master Class Camp
and a clinician for the Indiana State University Choral Camps.
Gregory Sanders,
Accompanist
A graduate of Butler
University's Jordan College of Fine Arts, Greg is an active chamber musician,
performing as a staff accompanist at Butler, as well as with colleagues and
friends in the Indianapolis area.
Greg is a pianist for the
Indianapolis Children's Choir and also works as a music teacher, maintaining a
private studio. He serves as the Assistant Choral Director at Franklin Central
High School.
He has been musical director and conductor for many local
musicals.
Chuck Daube, IMC ASL
Interpreter
Chuck Daube has been on the
faculty of the Indiana School for the Deaf since 1972. Because he wanted to
expose his students to live theater, he started interpreting plays and
musicals, and since 1979, has interpreted over 100 shows in the Indianapolis
area.
After attending GALA III in
Seattle in 1989, Chuck became involved with the steering committee to form a
men's chorus in Indianapolis. Chuck serves on the board of IndyChoruses. In
addition to interpreting for the Indianapolis Men's Chorus since 1990, he has
been a guest interpreter for several GALA choruses including the Twin Cities
Gay Men's Chorus, the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, D.C., the Heartland Men's
Chorus, and Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus. Chuck is also a frequent workshop
presenter at GALA Leadership Conferences.
In the summer of 1999, Chuck
had the honor of being chosen from a field of over 25 interpreters to
participate in a workshop at the Julliard School in New York and interpret
"Miss Saigon" on Broadway.
