The Indianapolis Women's Chorus

All God's Critters Got a Place in the Choir
Saturday, November 17, 2007, 5 p.m.
Sunday, November 18, 2007, 5:00 p.m.

Park Tudor School
7200 N. College Avenue, Indianapolis

Songs of struggle and tales of triumph illuminate our common hope to find our "place in the choir." This interdisciplinary performance, part of the 2007 Spirit & Place Festival, explores the heartaches of rejection and the joy of finding acceptance inside communities and congregations of love and generosity. As the song All God's Critters Got a Place in the Choir says, "Everybody here is part of the plan, we all get to play in the great critter band. From the eagle in the sky to the whale in the sea, it's one great symphony!"

The Indianapolis Women’s Chorus moves to the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art for its April concert, Song Sketches Drawn from the Earth. Inspired by Yosemite: Art of an American Icon, an exhibit at the Eiteljorg from March 22 to August 9, this multidisciplinary performance will evoke the scent of morning mists, the scale of sky-brushing cliffs, and the quiet color of sunrise.

Enjoy familiar favorites such as Cole Porter’s Don’t Fence Me In; Colors of the Wind, from Disney’s Pocahontas, and Harry Belafonte’s Turn the World Around, as well as music by The Chenille Sisters and songs inspired by indigenous peoples (Inuit, Oneida, Australian, and Guaymi). This unique performance, which will be held in-the-round in the Allen Whitehill Clowes Sculpture Court, will also feature four original works created by chorus members, a collaboration with local dancers, and other choral works that celebrate the breathtaking majesty and fiery power of the Earth as well as the cascading waters and grounded glory of the natural world.
